Random Tech Tidbit

I purchased a Belkin USB Anywhere last week with the intention of using it to connect a flash card reader to a USB 2.0 Hard Drive Enclosure. It's a simple device that is basically designed to connect to portable storage devices and copy all of the data from one device to the other.

The USB attached card reader from belkin attached smoothly and worked happily. The USB 2.0 Hard Drive Enclosure refused to communicate with properly with USB Anywhere device though. After many different configurations and reformatting the hard drive repeatedly, I determined that there is one important note that was left out of the user manual of the Belkin USB Anywhere -- it is only compatible with FAT32 drives. If you're attempting to use a drive that has been formatted as an NTFS drive, you'll need to reformat the disk.

Once the drive was formatted properly, it worked perfectly. I can now happily drop flash memory cards into the reader and with the press of a single button, download all of the files onto my hard drive.
